Dinesh General Store

Dinesh General Store is situated in the Nehru Enclave Market in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. We are right near the Aryan Hotel, so we get a mix of local residents and people who are just passing through the area. Being in a market like Nehru Enclave means there is always something going on. I usually open the shop around nine in the morning and stay until late evening. We carry all the standard general store items, like snacks, toiletries, and some basic medicines that don't need a prescription. The shop is a bit narrow, so I have to be careful about how I stack the crates of soda and water bottles. I have a small counter where I sit, and I keep a radio playing softly in the background to pass the time. Lucknow gets quite cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, so the shop feels different depending on the season. I don't have a big fancy sign, just the name painted above the door. Most of my customers are regulars who live in the apartments nearby. They come in for their daily bread or a packet of milk and we talk about whatever is happening in the news. It is a simple operation and I run it honestly. I don't use any modern apps to track my sales, just a thick ledger book and a pen. It has worked for me for years and I see no reason to change it now.
