Chicken N Fish Parlour

You can find us right across from Shubham Cinema, near the Kaiserbagh circle. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings when the movies let out. We’ve been running this parlour for a bit, mostly focusing on getting the meat and fish ready for whoever walks in. The kitchen gets pretty hot, especially during the summer months, but that’s just how it is. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the lunch rush. It’s not a quiet place. There’s always the sound of traffic from Cantonment Road and people shouting. We know most of the regulars by name now. They come in for their usual order and we usually have it ready before they even ask. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have to scramble, but we manage. My hands usually smell like spices or fish by the end of the day. It’s hard work, standing on your feet for ten hours, but it keeps us busy. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a counter and some stools, but it’s ours. We don’t do much advertising; people just see the sign when they’re headed to the cinema or walking towards the circle. It’s a straightforward life. We buy the stock, we cook it, and we sell it. Tomorrow we just do it all over again and hope the weather stays clear for the customers.
