Our office is right on the ground floor of Royal Plaza, and if you know Munshi Pulia, you know how busy it gets near that Indian Oil petrol pump. It’s always noisy outside with the bikes and cars. Inside, we’re usually just sitting at our desks looking at resumes or talking to someone who’s worried about finding a decent job. We’ve been in Lucknow for some time now. We aren't trying to change the world or anything; we just know how hard it is to figure out what to do after college. Some days are slow and we just drink tea and wait for the phone to ring. Other days, there are five people waiting in the lobby and things get a bit chaotic. We use these old computers that sometimes take forever to boot up. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that. People come in looking for advice, and we just tell them what we know based on what we've seen in the market. It’s not a big corporate machine here. It's just a few of us trying to help neighbors and students get their careers moving in some direction. We don't use big words or fancy promises. If there’s a job, we tell you. If your resume looks bad, we say so. We mostly just listen to what people are looking for and see if we can find something that fits their life. It’s simple work but it keeps us on our toes.
