Indian Progressive Youth Forum

Indian Progressive Youth Forum is located behind the Lal Masjid, right opposite the Mazar at Balaganj Chowk. It is a very busy part of the city with a lot of people moving through the chowk at all hours. Our space is just a simple room where we gather to talk about things and plan whatever needs to be done. We aren't a big organization with lots of funding. It’s mostly just local people who want to see some progress in our neighborhood. The office is often full of people sitting around and discussing local issues or trying to help someone with a problem. Being behind the mosque and near the mazar makes us very easy to find. Everyone in Balaganj knows this spot. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or furniture. Most of our work happens through talking to people on the streets or holding small meetings. It’s about being involved in the community and trying to make things a little better where we can. We don't have a set schedule; sometimes we are there late into the evening if something important is happening. It’s not a corporate job, and nobody is here to get rich. We just care about the area and the people living here. It can be a bit chaotic with the noise from the chowk, but it’s where we belong. We just take things one day at a time and see what we can do.
