Aster Garments

Aster Garments is located at No. 6/ 726 in Vikas Nagar. It’s a corner spot, which is nice because we get a bit more light from the side window. The shop is mostly run by me and my cousin. We grew up in this neighborhood, so we know a lot of the people who walk past every day. The interior is quite plain. We painted the walls white a couple of years ago, but they’ve started to grey a bit near the floor. We have wooden racks that we built ourselves to save some money when we first opened. They’re sturdy enough to hold the heavy winter coats we stock sometimes. Usually, we have a mix of everything, from shirts to trousers. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our sales; we just write everything down in a big ledger. It’s easier that way for us to keep track of what’s going out. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound, but we’ve learned to ignore it. We try to keep the place tidy, but when we get a new delivery, there are plastic bags and cardboard boxes everywhere for at least a day. Vikas Nagar is a good place for a business like ours because people here prefer shopping locally rather than going to the big malls. We open at nine and stay until the street lights come on. It’s just a normal shop doing normal business. We like it here.
