New Tailoring Centre

Our shop is tucked away in Shanti Market, specifically Shop No. 12 on the ground floor. We are right near Mumtaj Market, which is a big help for people trying to find us. New Tailoring Centre has been here for a bit, and it’s mostly just the sound of sewing machines all day. It’s a small space, but we make it work. The ground floor is convenient because people can just walk in with their bags of fabric. Shanti Market is one of those places where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have our sewing tables set up and piles of thread everywhere. It’s not very tidy, but we know where everything is. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait or use the manual machines. It's just regular tailoring work, fixing zippers or taking in trousers that are too big. We don’t have a fancy showroom. There are just some mirrors on the wall and a few chairs for people to sit while they wait. The neighbor from the tea stall brings us chai twice a day. It’s a bit noisy with the fans going, but it’s our workplace. We just focus on the needles and the fabric. It’s a humble setup, nothing more and nothing less. We keep the doors open to get a bit of air from the market corridor. People stop by to chat or drop off things to be fixed and stay for a quick talk.
