We run Alfiya Zari Art out of House No. 991 in Vijay Vihar. This is over in Balram Nagar, which is part of Loni. We are quite close to the Loni Inter College, so we see a lot of students walking by every day. Zari work is what we do here. It takes a lot of patience and sitting in one spot for hours. We have a few frames set up in the house where we do the embroidery. It isn't a factory or a big warehouse, just a regular house where we do our work. Loni is a busy place and Vijay Vihar has its own rhythm. We have been doing this for a while now. Most of the people around here know us for the zari work we do. It’s a bit of a slow process, but that’s just how it goes with this kind of art. We don’t use any big computers or fancy software. It is just needles, thread, and fabric. Sometimes we stay up late to finish a piece if it’s needed. The area near the college is usually loud during the day, but we get used to it. We just focus on the thread and the pattern in front of us. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time. We don't have a big marketing plan, we just rely on people seeing what we do. We like being in Balram Nagar because it’s where we live and where our family is. It makes the work feel more natural for us.
