Arkosa Stone Mine Private Limited is located out at Plot Number 898 in Bhatkhiri village. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, near the Irgaon post office in Lohardaga, Jharkhand. Being in the stone mining business means we spend most of our time outdoors in the dust and the sun. It is heavy, physical work and it isn't for everyone. We deal with a lot of rocks and machinery every single day. The village of Bhatkhiri is a quiet place until we get the equipment running. We don't have a fancy office building; we mostly work out of the site and a small space where we keep our records. It is a practical business where you have to be ready for anything, from machine repairs to dealing with the local weather conditions. We just focus on getting the stone out and making sure everything is handled the right way. Most of us here are used to the hard work and the long hours that come with mining. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. It’s just mining stone in Lohardaga, and that is about it. We stay busy, we keep our equipment maintained, and we try to make sure we are doing things right for the land we are working on.
