Snow Field Trek & Tour

You can find us at the Hemis Labrang Complex on Upper Tukcha Road. It is right near the Upper Tukcha parking area, which is handy because parking in Leh is a nightmare otherwise. Snow Field Trek & Tour is run by a small group of us who grew up in these mountains. We spend our days arranging treks and making sure the gear is in good shape for the visitors. The office is pretty basic, just some desks and shelves with sleeping bags and tents piled up. It smells a bit like canvas and old leather boots in here. We spend a lot of time on the phone with local guides and drivers. The weather dictates everything we do. If a pass is closed by snow, we have to change all the plans in a hurry. It can be stressful, but we are used to it by now. People stop by to ask about the best trails or just to check the bus schedules for the next day. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just do our work and hope people are happy with their trips. Upper Tukcha Road is a bit of a climb from the main market, so it stays a little more peaceful than the center. We like the view from this part of town. When the sun goes down, it gets cold fast, so we usually head home early in the winter months.
