Overland Escape (Head Office)

Our head office is situated in the Raku Complex on Fort Road here in Leh. Fort Road is one of the main streets in town, so there is always a lot of traffic and people walking by. Overland Escape is where we manage all the different trips and tours we have going on across the region. The office stays pretty busy, especially in the mornings when the drivers come in to get their schedules for the day. We have several desks and a lot of files stored away. It can get a bit cluttered with all the papers and maps we use every day. We have been in the Raku Complex for a good while, and we are quite settled in. People come in from the street to ask about routes to Nubra Valley or Pangong Lake. We give them the information we have and help with the necessary permits. It is a lot of coordination between the office staff and the people out in the field. We do not use any slick sales pitches or marketing tricks. We just tell people what the roads are like and what they need to bring along. The winter months are tough when the roads close, and we spend that time catching up on paperwork and maintenance. It is a typical local business, run by people who live here and understand the challenges of the landscape. We are usually here from morning until the sun sets.
