Hotel Sun-N-Sand

We are situated up in Chanspa, which is a part of Leh in Ladakh. It is a beautiful area, very high up in the mountains where the air is very clear. Our hotel is a simple stone and brick building that fits in with the local style of the houses around here. We have been here for a while, catering to travelers who come from all over to see the mountains or go trekking. The air is thin and it gets very cold at night even in the summer, so we make sure there are enough heavy blankets for everyone in the rooms. We don't have any elevators or fancy lobbies with carpets, just some stairs and a small area where people can sit and talk about their day. The rooms are basic but they have a good view of the surrounding hills if the weather is clear and the sun is out. We grow some vegetables in a small patch out back when the season is right and the ground isn't frozen. The staff consists of a few locals who know the roads and the trekking trails around here very well. We don't have a big restaurant with a chef, but we can make some hot tea and basic food if you ask us in advance. It is very quiet here, away from the main market noise of the town. Most people who stay with us are just looking for a peaceful spot to rest their heads. We just provide the basics—a roof, a bed, and some warmth.
