Uma Cafe

You can find Uma Cafe near Uma Chowk in Udgir, right by the post office. It’s a convenient spot because people are always coming and going from the post office. I’ve been running this place for a few years now. We have tables set up inside where it stays relatively cool. The menu is simple, mostly snacks and tea that people like. I wake up early to get everything ready before the first customers arrive. The kitchen isn't very big, but we make it work. Sometimes the stove acts up, but I've learned how to fix it myself. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they have character this way. People come in to wait for their mail or just to take a break from the heat at the chowk. I know a lot of the people in Udgir by name now. We don't have any fancy machines, just the basics. It's a bit noisy when the buses go past the chowk, but you get used to it. I try to keep the place tidy, though it gets messy during the lunch hour. We just serve what we have and try to be helpful. It’s a steady job and I like being in the middle of town. There's always something happening outside our door, which makes the day go by faster. It’s just the way things are in Udgir and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We stay open until the post office closes up for the evening.
