Shirse Clinic

Shirse Clinic is located right near the bus stand in Bahirgaon, along the Chalisgaon Road in Kannad. Being so close to the bus stop means we get a lot of people just passing through or coming in from the nearby villages. It’s a simple building. We don’t have a big sign, just enough so you can see it from the road. The dust from the Chalisgaon Road tends to blow in whenever the door opens, so I spend a lot of time dusting the shelves. It’s a small operation here in Aurangabad. We mostly see people with common colds or minor injuries from working in the fields. The waiting room is just a few wooden benches. It’s not the most comfortable, but people don’t seem to mind much. We start early in the morning because that’s when the first buses arrive. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that we’ve just gotten used to. There isn't a lot of high-tech stuff here. We use what we have to help the folks who walk in. The doctor knows most of the families in Bahirgaon by name. It’s a quiet life most days, until the bus drops off a big group of people. We just take them one by one. It’s how things have been done here for years. We usually close up once the last bus leaves the stand nearby.
