Sakshi General Store

Our general store is right in the middle of Bazar Chowk in the village of Chillari which is part of the New Killari area. We are very easy to find because the Ganesh Temple is just a short walk away and everyone knows that landmark. Our shop is where people come to get their daily things like flour, tea leaves, or soap. We also keep some snacks and cold drinks which the kids really like when they are coming home from school. The store is not very big but we try to keep the shelves full of the items that people in the village need most. Every morning we open up early and sweep the front of the shop because the road can get quite dusty with the tractors and buses passing by. It is a very social place where people stop not just to buy things but to have a quick chat about the weather or the local news. We have been here for a long time and we have seen many families in Chillari grow up. We don't have a computer or a fancy billing system here we just use a notebook to keep track of things. When the festival times come around the area near the temple gets very crowded and we stay busy from morning until night. It is a simple way of living and we are happy to be a part of this community. We just provide what is needed for the local homes.
