Our place is in Sawargaon Rokda, right across from the Sarkari Wada. It’s House Number 462 in Ahmedpur tehsil. Being in a rural part of Latur, things are a bit slower and more relaxed than the big cities. We set up Grameen Unnati because we wanted a place where local farmers and villagers could put their money without traveling too far. The office is simple, just like the rest of the town. We have a couple of desks and some old cabinets for the files. We don't have a website that does everything; we prefer to talk face to face. It’s easier to understand people that way. Sometimes we talk about the crops or the rain before we get to the money stuff. That’s just how it is around here. The address is easy to find if you are near the government building. We aren't trying to grow into a massive bank. We just want to be the place where the people of Ahmedpur feel comfortable coming in. Our staff is mostly local kids who finished school and wanted to stay near home. We keep the books honest and the doors open for anyone in the 413515 area. It's not a fancy job, but it helps the village grow a little bit every day. We just take things one day at a time here.
