About Balaghat Polytechnic College – Education in Latur
Being out here in Ruddha Ahmedpur, things are a bit slower than in the big cities of Maharashtra. This polytechnic college is tucked away in a spot where you can actually see some open ground. We have a lot of workshops because that’s the main point of a polytechnic, and they usually smell like grease and old metal. The students here are mostly local guys who want to learn a trade and get to work. We spend a lot of time in the labs, even when the machines are being a bit stubborn. The building itself is pretty basic, just long hallways and heavy doors that stay open to catch the breeze. Ahmedpur can get really hot, so the shade under the trees in our courtyard is where everyone hangs out during lunch. It’s not a polished corporate campus; there’s usually some construction or repair work happening in one corner or another. We don't have flashy brochures. Most people find us because they live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor. The staff here has been around for years, so we all know each other’s habits. We try to keep the equipment in decent shape, though the budget is always a bit tight. It’s practical work for practical people. When the day ends, we lock up the tool sheds and head home while the sun sets over the fields near Ruddha. There is always something to fix or a report to finish before we leave.
