Arpana Flour Mills Private Limited is basically just a busy spot on the Kharosa Nilanga Road. We have been here for a while now, and the routine does not change much from day to day. Since we are right on the road, there is always a lot of dust from the trucks passing by, which we have to keep cleaning off the entrance. The main thing we do is deal with the grain that comes in from the surrounding areas. You can hear the machines grinding from the moment we open up until we close late in the evening. It is pretty loud, so we have to shout sometimes just to hear each other over the noise. We have a small crew of people who handle the heavy lifting. Moving those big sacks of flour is hard on the back, especially when it is humid outside. We do not have any fancy furniture or a decorated lobby. It is just a practical workspace with concrete floors and high ceilings to keep it a bit cooler. Sometimes the farmers stop by to chat for a bit while their grain is being processed, which breaks up the day. We usually have a pot of tea going in the corner of the small office area. It is honest work and there is always something to be done, whether it is fixing a belt on a machine or double-checking the weight of a bag before it goes out on a truck.
