Ambika Eye Hospital

Ambika Eye Hospital is located right at Shivaji Chowk. It’s a very central spot, so most people in town know exactly where we are without needing a map. We’ve been here at the Chowk for a good number of years now. Eye care is what we do, and we’ve seen all sorts of cases come through our doors. The building is right in the thick of things, so it can get pretty noisy with the traffic and the horns outside. We have a few different rooms for testing vision and checking for problems. It’s not a giant hospital like the ones you see in the big cities, but we have what we need to take care of our patients. The waiting room usually has a few people squinting at the charts on the wall. We try to keep things moving so no one is waiting too long, though some days are just busier than others. My staff and I have been working together for a long time, so we have a good system down. We don't use a lot of medical jargon when we talk to people; we just explain what’s going on with their eyes in plain English. Being at Shivaji Chowk means we are a part of the local landmark. We see the same tea sellers and rickshaw drivers every day. It’s a busy life, but helping people see a bit clearer is a good way to spend the day.
