Madhuban Tiles

Madhuban Tiles sits out on the Porbandar Road in Jamnagar. We are pretty easy to spot because we’re right near the Indian Oil petrol pump. If you’re driving that way, you’ll see the stacks of crates outside the entrance. Moving tiles is heavy work, so there’s always a bit of grit and dust on the floor. We have different sections for the bathroom tiles and the ones people put in their kitchens or on their floors. Some of the samples are chipped at the edges from being moved around so much over the months, but they still show the patterns well enough. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons, making it quite warm inside despite the two fans we have running. We keep a big water cooler in the corner for anyone who stops in. A lot of our day involves showing people how one tile looks next to another and trying to figure out how many boxes they’ll need for a specific room size. It’s a lot of math on the back of old envelopes or scraps of paper. The trucks come in and out to drop off new stock, which usually makes a lot of noise. We’ve been at this location for some time now, and the neighbors at the petrol pump are friendly enough. It’s just a regular place where we sell tiles and talk about home repairs.
