Ashokdham Jaivik Producer Company Limited

Ashokdham Jaivik Producer Company Limited is based at Saligaram Singh’s house in the village of Panchdamodarpur. This is in the Lakhisarai block area. We are focusing on jaivik, or organic, farming because we wanted to go back to how things used to be done before everything got so chemical. It is a slow process and the soil takes time to change, but we are patient. The village is a quiet spot, and most people here know each other by name. We gather at the house to discuss the crops and what kind of natural compost we are using this season. It is not some high-tech operation. We mostly just share what we know and help each other out with the manual labor. Lakhisarai has its own way of doing things, and we try to stick to that. Sometimes people from other villages come to ask how the organic stuff is working out. We tell them it is hard work but feels right. There are no big signs or polished offices here. Just some desks and a lot of talk about the weather and the dirt. We take things one day at a time. It is about keeping the land healthy for the kids later on. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to be useful for the local farmers around here who want to grow things naturally. It works for us.
