Shweta Brick Fieldc

Shweta Brick Fieldc is right on the Main Road in Lakhimpur Kheri, so you can't really miss us if you are driving through. We have a lot of space here where we lay out the bricks to dry in the sun before they go into the kiln. It is a lot of manual labor, mostly involving mud, water, and fire. The "c" at the end of our name on some papers is just one of those things that happened, but everyone around here just knows us as the brick field. The Main Road is always busy, and the sound of trucks passing by is something we have gotten used to over the years. We spend our days watching the weather because rain is not good for the raw bricks sitting out in the field. When the kiln is burning, the heat is intense, and someone always has to be there to keep an eye on it. We aren't trying to be a big fancy corporation, we are just a local business in Lakhimpur Kheri doing what we know how to do. The stacks of red bricks get pretty high during the peak season, and it is a good feeling to see them all finished and ready to go. People from the city and the nearby villages come by to pick up what they need for their new houses. It’s a hard way to make a living, but it’s what we have done for a long time and we just keep going.
