Down here in Ward No. 5 of North Lakhimpur, things move at their own pace. Shree Hanuman Rice And Oil Mill has been part of this area for quite some time. The machines make a lot of noise during the peak season, and you can smell the oil being pressed from quite a distance. It's a dusty job, and at the end of the shift, we usually have rice husks on our clothes. We handle the local crops that farmers bring in from around the district. Sometimes there is a line of tractors waiting out front, and other times it is quiet. We don't have a big front office or a receptionist. Usually, if you need something, you just walk into the shed and find whoever isn't busy at the moment. We focus on getting the rice cleaned and the oil extracted properly. There’s no magic to it, just keeping the equipment running and making sure the bags are filled right. People in the neighborhood know where we are. We've seen the town change a bit over the years, but the work at the mill stays pretty much the same. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot, but it is what we know how to do. We don’t spend money on big ads or anything like that because the work speaks for itself when people see the quality.
