N.K Masala

Gogamukh is where we are located, right near the United Bank. We are on National Highway 15 so there is a lot of trucks and cars roaring past all the time. It gets very dusty because of the highway traffic and the wind. We have to wipe down the jars every single morning before we open properly. We sell masala and the shop is basically a small room with a heavy iron shutter. It is not very fancy to look at from the road. We have different mixtures for different dishes that people like to cook. People who are traveling often stop because they see our sign while driving past. We do not have any staff really, it is just us working here. The bank next door brings some people our way too when they are done with their banking. Sometimes the wind blows the dust right into the shop and we have to clean the floor again. We have to keep the door halfway shut sometimes to block the noise. It is a noisy place to work because of the loud engines outside on the road. We use simple plastic bags for the masala and we do not have printed labels with fancy logos. We just write the names on them with a marker sometimes. It is more about the contents than the look of the bag. We’ve been here for a few years.
