Silikon Ceramics

Silikon Ceramics is based at A-6/8 in the Ida area of Nacharam. Being in an industrial development area means we are surrounded by all sorts of factories and sheds. Our place is usually full of clay dust and the smell of the kilns when they are running. It gets pretty warm inside, especially when we have a lot of pieces being fired at once. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass cases. Most of our stuff is just sitting on wooden pallets or stacked on heavy-duty metal shelves. It’s a working space, not a gallery. We spend our time checking the glazes and making sure the shapes are coming out the way they should. Our clothes usually have a few spots of clay on them by the end of the shift, but that’s just part of the job. Nacharam can be a bit dusty and loud with all the trucks going by, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just make ceramic items and try to keep the breakage to a minimum. It’s a small team of us here, and we mostly just focus on the work at hand. Sometimes a batch doesn't turn out right and we have to start over, but that is just how ceramics go. We stay busy and keep the wheels turning as best as we can.
