Our workshop is over at 60/A in the Ida Gandhi Nagar area. It’s a pretty busy industrial patch. Most days start with the sound of the shutters rolling up and the smell of machine oil. We have got a lot of heavy equipment scattered around the floor at Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools. It’s not the cleanest place in the world because of all the metal shavings and grease, but it is where the work happens. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints and checking the measurements on the lathes. The guys wear overalls that have seen better days. We have a small office area tucked in the corner with a few old desks and a computer that is a bit slow. The phone rings a lot with people asking for specific parts or checking on their orders. We do not really do much in the way of advertising. Most people just know we are here. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten quickly so we can get back to the machines. Gandhi Nagar has a lot of trucks coming and going, so the noise is constant. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the sound of a grinder. It is a straightforward life. We focus on the tools and making sure everything is built to the right specs. We have been in this spot for years and the walls are covered in old calendars and notes. It is just a regular machine shop.
