If you head over to the Cyberabad area of Hyderabad, you will find the National Academy of Construction, or Nac as everyone calls us. We have a whole campus here. It’s a big space with plenty of room for people to learn the ropes of the building trade. You’ll see students walking around in hard hats and instructors showing how to mix concrete or read blueprints. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We have classrooms, of course, but the real action is in the workshops. There is always the sound of hammers or saws going in the background. It feels like a permanent construction site, which I guess is the point. We’ve been at this Cyberabad location for a long time. The city has grown up all around us with all the new tech buildings, but we are still here focusing on the basics of building. Our offices are pretty standard—lots of desks, posters of safety rules on the walls, and stacks of training manuals. It’s not a fancy university atmosphere. It’s more like a place where you come to get your hands dirty and learn a skill. We have people coming from all over to stay at the campus and get their certifications. It gets busy during the day and a bit quieter in the evenings. We just keep the gates open and the training moving along to meet the local demand.
