Amrita Drugs

Amrita Drugs is located at 9-24, Plot No.33 in the old part of Gayatri Nagar. Karmanghat is a nice enough place to work, though it has gotten a lot more crowded over the years with all the new buildings. Our shop is tucked away on a street that feels more like a neighborhood than a business district. We have shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling, filled with boxes and bottles of all kinds. Most of our day is spent helping the local people who come in looking for something for a cough or a fever. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon lights in the window. It is just a simple counter and some old stools for when the legs get tired. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays cool even when it’s boiling outside in the sun. Sometimes the delivery guys come late and we have to stay open an extra hour to get everything put away on the shelves. We know the families around here, and we see their kids growing up as they come in. It’s not the kind of place where you just buy something and leave; people usually stay to talk about the weather or the local news for a few minutes. We don't have a computer system that does everything for us, so there is a lot of manual checking. It is just a small, local business trying to be useful.
