Daksh Farm

Daksh Farm is located in Coyalmannam, which is a place where you can still feel the connection to the land. It’s not a huge commercial enterprise with shiny gates; it’s just a working farm where things get done by hand most of the time. The weather here in Kerala dictates everything we do. When it rains, everything turns a very bright green, but it also means the ground gets incredibly muddy and difficult to walk on. We spend our days out in the fields, checking on whatever is growing and making sure the irrigation is working like it should. There is always some task waiting for us, whether it’s clearing away brush or tending to the plants. The air smells like damp earth and greenery, which is a lot better than the city smells I remember. We don’t have a fancy office or a big sign. Most people in Coyalmannam just know where we are by word of mouth. Sometimes we sit under the shade of a tree during the hottest part of the afternoon just to catch our breath and drink some water. It’s a quiet life, mostly filled with the sounds of birds and the wind through the leaves. We just grow what we can and take care of the soil. It’s honest work that leaves you tired at the end of the day, but it feels right to be out here.
