A. R. Surgical & Furniture Industries is out in P. O. Painkannur in the Malappuram district. We’re in the business of making the heavy-duty stuff you see in hospitals, like the beds, exam tables, and those metal cabinets for medicine. It’s a workshop environment, so there’s usually the sound of tools and the smell of metal and paint around the place. We aren't a fancy showroom. Most of our space is taken up by raw materials and half-finished pieces that are waiting for the next step in the process. It’s hard work and it can get quite warm in the Malappuram heat, but we’re used to it. We like knowing that what we build is going to last for a long time in a busy hospital setting. We don’t use any slick marketing talk because the furniture speaks for itself once it’s delivered and put to use. Our team consists of local craftsmen who know how to weld and assemble things properly. Sometimes the delivery schedules get a bit tight, especially when a new clinic is opening up nearby and they need everything at once. We just keep our heads down and keep working through the orders as they come in. It’s a very hands-on kind of life here in Painkannur. We’re just a local industry doing our part to make sure medical facilities have the furniture they need to function well enough for the patients.
