Hylum Crafts

We are over here in Kannur, right by the Urban Bank. If you know the area, it is pretty easy to find us. Hylum Crafts started because we wanted to do something with our hands and stay busy. We spend most of our days working on different pieces in the back. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with all the tools going, but that is just how a real workshop is. The rain here in Kerala can be quite a lot during the monsoon, so we spend a good amount of time making sure everything stays dry inside our storage area. We do not have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It is just a workspace where we get things done and keep our supplies. My brother helps out with the packing and I handle the actual making of the crafts. We have been at this for a few years now. The neighborhood is quiet enough, though the bank gets really busy in the mornings. We usually start early before the sun gets too hot. There is a small tea stall around the corner where we go for breaks. People stop by sometimes just to see what we are making. We do not mind. It is nice to have visitors from the local area. We use whatever materials we can get that work well. Nothing too complicated. We just try to make stuff that people can actually use in their homes. That is pretty much the whole story.
