Out here in Bhuj, things move a little differently. Our shop is in Shira Mandeep Jagir, not far from the Old Railway Station Road. It’s a part of town that has a lot of history. The building we are in is older, and you can feel the character in the walls. We sell a bit of everything, depending on what people in the area are looking for at the time. It gets incredibly hot in the afternoon, so we usually have the big shutters halfway down to keep the sun out. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool. We get a lot of regulars who stop in just to say hello or talk about the weather while they pick up what they need. It is a friendly atmosphere, nothing like the big supermarkets in the city. I spend a lot of time tracking inventory in a big ledger book because I still don't trust the computer for everything. The Old Railway Station Road always has some activity, even if the trains aren't as frequent as they used to be. It is a good place to be. We don’t have a website or a marketing plan. We just open the doors in the morning and see who comes by. It’s worked for us so far. We've been here for years, and the neighbors are like family to us.
