K R Trading

Our shop is No. 475 on Niranjan Marg, right in the Mochi Bazar area of Mandvi. Kutch is a unique place to work, and the bazaar here is always full of life and different smells. K R Trading is a small business, mostly dealing with local goods that come through the port or the surrounding villages. The street is narrow, so we usually see people walking or on bicycles rather than cars. We’ve been in this building for many years. It has a high ceiling and big wooden doors that we throw open every morning to let the air in. We don't have a big team, just me and a helper. Most of our day is spent weighing goods and chatting with the people who stop by. We aren't a big corporation; we are just a local trading house. Sometimes the salt air from the coast makes the metal parts of the shop a bit rusty, so we have to keep up with the painting every year. We keep our records in big paper books because that’s how we’ve always done it. It’s a slow-paced life compared to the big cities, but we like it that way. We know the history of almost every shop on this street. We just try to provide what people need and keep the business going for the next generation. It’s not about being the biggest, it’s just about being reliable.
