Khavda Sweet House

Khavda Sweet House is right on Station Road at D-16 in Gandhidham. We’ve been here in the Kachch area for a long time. The shop smells like sugar, ghee, and roasted nuts most of the day. We start very early in the morning to get the fresh batches of sweets ready before the first customers arrive. It’s a busy street, especially with people coming and going from the station. We see a lot of travelers stopping by to pick up something for their journey or to take home to their families. The kitchen is in the back, and it’s always hot because of the big vats and stoves. We make everything the traditional way, just like we always have. There’s no secret to it, just staying consistent and using what we have available. The shelves are packed with different kinds of boxes and trays. During festival times, it gets really crowded and we barely have time to sit down. My family and some long-time staff run the place. We know most of the locals who come in every week. It’s a simple business, selling sweets and snacks to anyone who walks through the door. We don't have fancy displays, just glass cases and honest food. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by late afternoon, so we have to hurry and make more. It’s a lot of standing on your feet, but we like the busy days and seeing familiar faces all the time.
