We are located out on the Anjar-Bhachau Highway, specifically at Survey No 511/1 in Village Bhimasar. The plot is quite large, covering numbers 25 to 48, which gives us plenty of room for all the wood. Being near the highway is handy for the big trailers that come in with logs and leave with finished timber products. The first thing you notice when you get here is the smell of fresh wood and the sound of saws cutting through it. There’s sawdust everywhere, even in the little office near the gate. We spend a lot of time outdoors or under the large sheds, moving planks around and stacking them according to size. It’s physical work, and the sun in Kutch can be very unforgiving. We have a group of locals who work with us, and they are good with their hands. Sometimes we just sit on the stacks of timber during our breaks to catch a breeze. The yard is usually a bit of a mess with offcuts and wood scraps, but we try to clear it out every few days. We’ve been operating here for a while, and the village of Bhimasar has grown around us. It’s a simple life out here away from the big city. We deal with the logistics of the highway traffic and the daily cutting schedules. It’s just us, the machines, and a lot of timber waiting to be moved.
