Gautam Buddha National Hospital

Down here in Kasia, right by the National Highway Chowk, you will find the Gautam Buddha National Hospital. It is a hard place to miss because of where it sits near the main road. Because we are so close to the highway, we get all sorts of people stopping in. Some are just passing through and had a bit of trouble on the road, while others are families who have lived in Kasia their whole lives. The building itself is sturdy and has been through many hot summers and rainy seasons. We don't go in for much decoration; the walls are plain, and the floors are easy to sweep. The waiting area has enough space for people to sit while they wait for their turn. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the local markets are opening up. We have a small team here, and everyone chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s cleaning up or helping someone get to their room. The noise from the trucks on the highway is just background noise to us now. It’s a practical place for practical people. We aren't trying to be anything fancy, just a hospital that stays open and does its work for the community. The local tea seller usually comes by in the afternoon with some snacks for the staff and the visitors. It’s just the way life goes on this corner of the chowk, and we are fine with that.
