Gaanvwala Welfare Foundation

You will find us at House No. 518/11, right near Tilak Chaukpadrauna here in Kushinagar. This foundation is basically just a group of locals who wanted to see our town do a bit better for itself. We aren't experts from some big city; we are just regular people who grew up in these streets and know the problems. The office is part of a house, so it feels very much like a home. People walk in all the time without an appointment, and that is just fine with us. We talk about everything from the local roads to how the schools are doing. We try to put our heads together and find small ways to help out. Sometimes that means organizing a clean-up or helping a family get their paperwork sorted for some government help they missed. It is nothing fancy. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and listening to what the elders have to say about the history of this place. There is a lot of wisdom in this town if you take the time to look for it. We don't have big funding, so we just do what we can with what is in our pockets. It is hard work, and the heat in Kushinagar doesn't make it any easier during the summer months, but we are used to it. We just want to keep the community strong and help where it counts.
