I. K. Brick Industry

Out here in Village Sunkadalli, specifically at 45/6 in the Bettapura area, we run I. K. Brick Industry. It is a bit of a drive from the main parts of Mysore district, but we like it here because there is space to work. The ground here is good for what we do. We have a small crew of people from around the village who come in to help with the molding and the firing. It's a lot of manual labor, and your hands stay dirty most of the day. We don't have any big corporate signs or anything like that. Just a gate and the stacks of bricks that you can see from the dirt path. Some days are slower than others, depending on who is building what in the nearby areas. We have to keep an eye on the wood and the fuel for the kilns to make sure we don't run out at the wrong time. The kids from the village sometimes walk past on their way to school while we are unloading the latest batch. It is a simple life and a simple business. We don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We just make bricks for the local houses and walls. Sometimes the rains make the ground too soft for the trucks, so we have to wait a few days to move anything. That's just how it goes when you are working out in the village like this. We just wait it out and start again once it dries.
