Coorg Boat House

This place is down in Basavanahalli. We have the boat house near the water and a holiday home for guests. It’s a bit of a drive to get here, but it’s quiet once you arrive. We spend a lot of our time making sure the boats are dry and the engines are working. The damp air in Coorg is tough on the wood, so there is always something to sand down or paint. In the mornings, the mist over the water is very thick. We usually start work around six to get things ready for anyone who wants to go out early. The house has a few rooms that we keep as clean as we can, though spiders like to move in pretty fast. We grow some of our own vegetables out back, but the monkeys usually get to them before we do. It’s a simple life here. We don't have a big fancy reception area, just a porch where we sit and talk to the visitors. Sometimes the internet is slow because of the trees and the hills. We focus on the daily chores like fixing the dock or clearing the path after a heavy rain. It’s mostly just us and the sound of the water. We like it that way even if it’s a lot of manual labor every single day to keep everything from getting overgrown or ruined by the river water.
