Sardana Medicose

Gaushala Bazar is a crowded place, and that’s where Sardana Medicose sits. We’ve been in this market for years, and we’ve seen shops come and go. Our place is tucked in between a cloth merchant and a sweet shop. It’s always loud outside with people shouting and bikes honking their horns. Inside the shop, it’s a bit calmer, though we don't have much room to move around once the morning rush starts. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, filled with every kind of medicine you can think of. You need a ladder just to get the stuff on the top row. It’s just a family-run kind of thing, really. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We don’t have a computer system that does everything; we still write a lot of things down in big ledgers. It’s just the way we’ve always done it. Sometimes the fans don't work right in the heat, so we just prop the door open and hope for a breeze. We stay open pretty late because people always need things at odd hours. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know. We don't do any advertising, the word of mouth in the bazar is enough for us to keep going.
