Raj Bhagat Foods (P) Ltd. is situated in Bhagat Market on Ladwa Road in Shahabad Markanda. This area is a real center for food trading, so there are always farmers and traders coming through. Our place is a combination of an office and a storage area. It smells like raw grains and spices most of the time. The building is just a standard market structure, nothing fancy about it. We have a heavy iron gate that we roll up every morning. Inside, it’s mostly bags stacked high and a few weighing scales. We don’t have a big staff, just a few local people who have been working with us for a long time. We know our regulars and they know us. There’s no formal reception area; you just walk in and talk to whoever is free. Ladwa Road can get very dusty, especially when the grain trucks are moving in and out during the season. We spend a lot of our time checking the quality of the batches and keeping the books updated. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when the weather is nice to have a break. We don’t do any marketing or brochures. People find us because we’ve been here in the market for years. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, based on being here every day and doing the work. We just keep the food products moving and try to stay organized.
