Mehta Ice Cream

My family runs Mehta Ice Cream near the Judicial Complex in Thanesar. We are located right by Jhansa Road, which is a busy route for people traveling through Kurukshetra. The shop is part of our daily life here in the village. My father started this a long time ago, and now I handle most of the day-to-day things. It’s not a fancy place like what you see in the big cities, but it works for us and the people around here. We get a lot of workers from the nearby offices and people visiting the post office. During the summer months, the heat is really something else, so everyone is looking for something cold to eat. We have to be careful with the electricity because sometimes the power goes out in the village. We have a generator, but it’s a bit old and noisy. I spend most of my day chatting with the neighbors who stop by for a chat and a scoop. The shop has some old wooden chairs where people can sit for a bit. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when there’s a festival or a big crowd on the road. We do our own cleaning and stocking. It’s a lot of work to keep everything running, but we’ve been here so long that it feels natural. We just want to make sure there’s enough ice cream for everyone who comes by. Anyways, it's just a simple village shop.
