Hiv Aids Counsellor

I work as a counsellor here in the village of Raison, which is in the Karnal district of Haryana. My place is known locally as Shsatpal, and that’s where people come when they need to talk or get some information. Being in a VPO like Raison means everyone knows everyone else, so I try to keep things very private and quiet. The office is just a simple room with a few chairs and a table where we can sit and talk without being interrupted by the street noise. It’s not a big hospital or a clinic with white walls; it’s just a part of the local community. I spend a lot of time waiting for folks to stop by, or sometimes I go out into the fields or the market to see people where they are comfortable. Life in Karnal moves at its own speed, and the work I do is quite slow and steady. There’s a lot of listening involved. I don't have any big posters or loud advertisements because this kind of work is better handled through word of mouth and trust. The dust from the roads can be a bit much in the dry season, but we manage just fine. People know where to find me if they need help navigating things they don't quite understand. It’s honest work, and I’ve been doing it right here in Raison for a long time. It feels good to be helpful in my own small corner of Haryana.
