Srinivasa Rice Mill

We run the rice mill here in Bhanumukkala village, right across from the Sai Baba temple on survey number 244. It’s a busy spot in Banaganapalli mandal, especially when the harvest comes in. We handle a lot of grain throughout the year, and it’s mostly local farmers bringing their carts and trucks by. The mill itself is a noisy place with the big hullers running all day long. It gets quite dusty inside, so we usually keep the big doors wide open to let the air move through. My family has been doing this for quite some time now, and we just keep it going. The machines are old but they still work fine as long as we grease them properly and don't push them too hard. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the middle of a job. Then we just have to sit there and wait for it to come back on. It’s frustrating but that’s just how things are here. We don't have any fancy office or a marketing team. Most people just know us because they see the mill when they go to the temple across the road. We stay busy with the bagging and the weighing. It’s hard on the back, moving those heavy sacks around all day, but it’s honest work. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just mill the rice and make sure it's ready for whoever needs it. It’s a simple life in the village.
