Our little office is tucked away in the Shilpa Birla Compound here in Kurnool. If you know the area, Plot No 15 isn't too hard to find, though sometimes the dust from the road gets inside if we leave the door open too long. It’s mostly just us here handling the daily paperwork and chatting with folks who stop by to settle their monthly dues. The ceiling fan has a slight wobble that we’ve gotten used to over the years. We don't have fancy leather chairs or anything like that, just some sturdy wooden ones that do the job. Some days are quieter than others, especially when the afternoon heat kicks in and nobody wants to be out on the streets. We usually have a pot of tea going in the corner. Most people who come in are regulars from around the neighborhood or the city outskirts. We spend a lot of time looking through old ledgers and making sure every entry is right. It’s not a big corporate setup with glass walls. It's more like a place where you can just sit down for a minute and catch your breath while we finish up the entries. The windows look out onto the compound, and sometimes you see the local kids playing near the gate. It’s a simple life running things here in Andhra Pradesh, just keeping track of things and making sure the office stays organized enough to find what we need when someone asks for it.
