Seetha Rama Ayurvedic Clinic

This clinic is actually run out of House No. 1-7-83 in Shanthi Nagar Colony. It’s a residential area in Kodumur, so it doesn't feel like a typical medical office. We have converted the front part of the house into the clinic space. There is a small porch where people can sit if the inside is full. We have a lot of plants growing around the entrance, mostly things we use in our preparations. Inside, the shelves are lined with plastic and glass jars filled with various roots and dried leaves. The floor is simple concrete. We spend a lot of our time grinding ingredients with a mortar and pestle. It’s hard work on the arms. The neighborhood is usually quiet, except for the occasional barking dog or a motorbike passing by. Many of our patients are our own neighbors from Shanthi Nagar. They come in for a chat as much as they do for the treatments. We don't have a big staff, just family and a helper. We keep a notebook on the table to write down who visited. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoons, so we just work by the light from the door. It’s a very informal way of doing things, but it’s how we have always done it. We just try to keep the traditions going here in Kodumur. It’s a slow pace of life, and our clinic fits right into it.
