Raju Rice Mills

Our place, Raju Rice Mills, is located at 597/12 on M M Road in Yemmiganur. It’s been here for quite a while, and if you live around here, you’ve probably walked past the gates more than once. The mill itself is a sturdy old building that has seen a lot of grain pass through its doors. Inside, it’s usually quite warm because of the engines running, and there’s always that specific smell of toasted rice husks in the air. We don't really bother with any fancy decorations or a big storefront. We’re more concerned with making sure the hullers are sharp and the polishing is done correctly. My brothers and I usually handle the day-to-day stuff, along with a few local guys who help with the heavy lifting. Yemmiganur can be a bit dusty, especially on M M Road with all the carts and tractors passing by, but we’re used to it. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. Most people just show up with their tractor loads and we figure out the schedule on the fly. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a big batch, especially when the harvest is in full swing and everyone wants their rice at the same time. It’s hard work and your back definitely feels it by the time evening comes, but it’s what we do for a living and we're used to it.
