Om Kirana & General Stores

Om Kirana & General Stores is a small spot located at 1-47-527 on Pg Road. Srisailam gets a lot of visitors during the pilgrimage seasons, so it can get pretty crowded on the street right outside our door. We have been here for the people living nearby for a long time. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things, from bags of spices to plastic buckets and household cleaners. It looks a bit cluttered because we try to fit every single thing into the small floor space we have. We do not have any big neon signs, just a simple painted one above the entrance. Most of our regular customers are people who live just a few blocks away. They know our faces well. We open up the shutters pretty early in the morning and we usually stay open until it gets completely dark outside. My brother and I take turns sitting behind the counter to manage the sales. We do not wear uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our regular daily clothes. The concrete floor has some cracks from the years, but it has held up well enough. We do not use much technology here. A basic calculator and a paper ledger book are all we need to keep track of the money. Sometimes we run out of fresh milk by noon, so the regulars know they have to come early.
