New Holland Tractor India (P) Ltd is tucked away on Gandhi Nagar Road in Dharma Pet. The address is 4-78-116. It’s a place where we deal with tractors and agricultural machinery every single day. The floor is usually covered in oil spots and there are tools scattered around on the workbenches. We aren't salesmen in suits; we are mostly mechanics and people who understand how these machines work in the mud. When a farmer comes in with a broken engine or needs a new part, we know they’re losing money every hour the tractor isn't in the field. So we try to be quick, even if we are short-handed sometimes. The noise of engines idling and wrenches clanking is just the background of our lives. We have some office space, but it’s mostly filled with manuals and spare parts boxes. It gets hot in the workshop during the summer, but we keep the fans going and keep working. Sometimes the supply chain for parts gets backed up and we have to tell a customer they have to wait a week. It’s not a fun conversation, but we don’t sugarcoat it. We’ve been here in Dharma Pet for a while and we know the people rely on these tractors for their livelihood. We just try to keep the wheels turning as best as we can, helping out whoever walks through the garage door with a problem. It isn’t always easy, but it’s what we do.
