Joseph Mobile I.C.U. is based out of Old Town, and we spend most of our time on the road rather than sitting inside an office. When you are in the ambulance business, your workspace is really the vehicle itself. Our van is equipped with the things needed for intensive care while moving from one place to another. Being in Old Town means we know the narrow streets and the shortcuts pretty well, which is important when you are trying to get someone to a hospital. We aren't a big corporation with a massive fleet of hundreds of cars; it’s more of a local operation where we know the community we serve. The drivers and the medical staff on board are used to working in a small, cramped space while the van is moving through traffic. It can be a stressful job, but we’ve been doing it long enough that it just feels like part of the daily routine now. We don't use any fancy marketing talk about being the fastest or the best. We just try to be ready when the phone rings and get the van to where it needs to be. Maintenance is a big part of our life too, making sure the vehicle is always running right and the equipment inside is ready. That is what life is like for us here in Old Town. We just keep the wheels turning and stay focused on the task at hand until the shift is finally over.
