Mumtaza Memorial Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at 129, Gulooralangate in the Handwara area. We named the company as a memorial, which means a lot to the people involved here. We are a collective of farmers who live and work in the Gulooralangate part of Handwara. It’s a rural area where life revolves mostly around the seasons and what we can grow in the ground. Our office at number 129 is where we keep our records and meet to figure out the business side of farming. It’s a quiet place, usually filled with the sounds of the neighborhood. We don't have any big marketing budgets or fancy advertisements. Most of our work is done through word of mouth and by just being present in the community. Being a farmer producer company means we try to handle our own sales and supplies instead of relying on middle people who don't always have our interests at heart. It’s a tough job sometimes, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate or the prices in the market drop suddenly. But we have a good group of people here who are willing to put in the effort. We spend our days out in the fields and our evenings talking about how to keep things moving forward. It’s just a local effort to make sure the farmers in Handwara can keep doing what they do best without losing out.
